The Search Map shortcode is perfect for adding a map showing the locations of all the listings shown in a Search Listings shortcode. While the shortcode defaults to showing Boston Logan Airport, you can specify a new default per shortcode of any latitude and longitude. You can also specify width and height and design the CSS for displaying the shortcode.

Creating the Search Map Shortcode

As will all of the shortcodes, visit Shortcodes in the Placester plugin. Click the Create Custom Shortcode link and enter a title for the shortcode. Now select the search map from the type dropdown.

Parameters

Search Map has a minimal set of parameters. You can specify the template, width & height, latitude & longitude, and CSS class.

Shortcode Templates

When you need to customize the HTML output of any shortcode, you need to use Shortcode Templates. The HTML you enter in the HTML section is any valid HTML and will be used for each listing. You can use any of the subcodes on the right within the HTML. See the Shortcode Template guide for more details.

Paste the Shortcode into Your Page

The final step in using a shortcode is to copy the shortcode into the page. For Search Map, the shortcode will look something like:

[search_map id=’123’]

though your ID will be different.
